Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze visits prototypes
Double-decker Inloader for the Belgian Post Office
We are very proud that we were able to welcome the Federal Minister for the Environment, Svenja Schulze, to our Langendorf plant in Waltrop on Tuesday, 25 August. The reason for the pleasant meeting was the inspection of our special vehicle Inloader Flexliner SDT. The SDT was specially designed for the Belgian Post and can offer up to 66% more loading volume than conventional semi-trailers. In addition, there are further important ecological advantages that make the Inloaders a particularly sustainable and environmentally friendly vehicle.
Our Managing Director Dr. Klaus Strautmann tells us in conversation with Ms. Schulze: "As a responsible company, we see it as our duty to bring about an improvement in the current environmental situation by adapting logistical processes." So our designers at Langendorf developed the Flexliner, a vehicle that supports logistical processes while reducing transport costs and taking ecological aspects into account. Two Flexliners replace three conventional semi-trailers - Europe-wide without any exemption! This relieves the traffic volume by one complete semi-trailer. Overall, this reduces transport unit costs and, at the same time, the Langendorf Flexliner contributes greatly to the reduction of traffic volume and emission pollution.
"I am pleased that Langendorf is taking the current environmental situation as an opportunity to develop a vehicle that can make an important ecological contribution to freight transport," said Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze.
With the Flexliner, Langendorf has worked over the last few years to better combine economic and ecological aspects with a higher payload capacity and improved functionality by reducing the tare weight and optimising the technical functions. "Logistics should not always be about how we can become cheaper, but how we can become better," explains Dr Klaus Strautmann.
